Summary:
Azumi is a manga series that concerns a young woman brought up as part of a team of assassins, charged with killing three warlords that threaten Feudal Japan with an agenda of war and bloodshed. Azumi received an Excellence Prize at the 1997 Japan Media Arts Festival and the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1998.
My Brief Thought: one word - AMAZING, this manga is one of my top favourite classic one. I totally respect you , Master Koyama. The storyline are interesting as it started with a group of young yet naive assassins being trained by an old man at the mountain before proceeding to their first mission (killing some important people that caused war during that period). Azumi, the only girl in that troop eventually became the most skilled candidates as she is quick at bearing her sword and killing her opponent in a glimpse of an eye. There are a lot of goreness and cruelness happening in this manga which includes rape and women/children being killed. Though, it does not bother me at all as i only focused on Azumi's journey at that time. Because of her skill, she manages to fulfill every of her missions without fail . She is what we called "a beauty killer but with a kind heart"(she does not kill the innocents). This manga also have romance in it but more to tragic love and it ends with open ending(not a fan of this). Totally recommended this.
